A quarter of a century of Romania-US Strategic Partnership – marathon of events in Washington to honor 25 years of bilateral friendship
Honoring the 25th anniversary of Romania-US Strategic Partnership that will take place next week, the Embassy of Romania to Washington D.C. announces the organization of a series of events, part of the anniversary program carried out throughout the year to mark this milestone of the Romanian foreign policy.
Thus, between the 9-10th of July 2022, the first Romanian festival in the American capital, entitled Romanian Weekend at The Wharf, takes place on the banks of the Potomac River. For two days, the American public and the members of the Romanian-American community will be able to enjoy folk dance performances and live concerts, demonstrations of traditional craft skills, interactive workshops, public readings, tourist presentations, exhibitions and culinary and oenological tastings, organized in a very popular leisure area, located on the banks of the Potomac River, not far from the Capitol Building.
On Monday, July 11, 2022, on the very days of its anniversary, a site dedicated to both the history of the Strategic Partnership and to the bilateral relations established since 1880 will be launched. Defined today as one of the fundamental pillars of Romania’s foreign policy, the Strategic Partnership between Romania and the United States remains a key milestone on Romania’s Euro-Atlantic pathway for the past 25 years. The site will include both the calendar of events and relevant information regarding the Strategic Partnership.
On July 12, an event to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Strategic Partnership will take place in the United States Capitol with the support of the co-chairs of House Romania Caucus, Debbie Dingell (D-Michigan) and Michael Turner (R-Ohio).
In the next two days there will be organized decoration ceremonies for personalities who brought significant contributions to the development of relations between Romania and the United States: Ambassador Tony Patrick Hall, former member of Congress and Dorin Tudoran, writer, poet, essayist, journalist and dissident. On this occasion, Ambassador Andrei Muraru will award the National Order Star of Romania, granted by President Klaus Iohannis.
